Foldable smartphones are a relatively new breed of handsets with their unique selling point being a flexible display. So now, we’ve compiled a list of some of the best foldable phones in 2022 that are currently available in the market.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4

We can’t have a foldable device list without mentioning the brand that was one of the first to offer a smartphone with a bendable screen. As of right now, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is one of the company’s ultra premium flagship phones. It is also one of the most expensive foldable phones in this list, with a hefty price tag of around 599 US Dollars.

With such a heavy price, buyers will get the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and two displays. The primary panel is a 7.6 inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while the external screen is another smaller 6.2 inch AMOLED panel that also offers 120Hz refresh rate. The primary display has a vertical display and folds inwards, which has it offer a notebook like design. Overall, these specs makes the foldable phone one of the most premium offerings on this list.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

For those that can’t burn such a big hole in their pockets, the South Korean tech giant also offers a more affordable foldable smartphone model. It is the new Galaxy Z Flip 4, which also has a dual display offering like its larger sibling, but with some major differences. Unlike the Fold variant, the Flip has a clamshell folding design, which makes it a lot more compact and portable that the Fold.

While it has a lower price tag of 409 US Dollars, it still offers the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. However, it has a smaller primary display that has a size of 6.7 inches and an even smaller external panel that has a 1.9 inch size. Both panels are AMOLED screens with the larger panel offering 120Hz refresh rate. Samsung is still the most popular foldable smartphone brand in the market, with the Galaxy Z Flip series seeing the highest sales in the market.

Honor Magic V

Honor has just recently announced the new Magic Vs foldable phone in China. It is basically an upgraded version of the Magic V model. It has a design that is similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, which sports a 7.9 inch OLED internal foldable display that has a 90Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, its external screen has a 6.45 inch OLED panel that offers a higher 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, this model is also equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. The company even offers an Ultimate version of this model as well in China. This smartphone starts from around 409 US Dollars and can go up to roughly 449 US Dollars. Apart from this, the Chinese brand offers some very capable cameras and other notable features. So, it is easily recommendable while also being the latest foldable model in the market.

Vivo X Fold+

The Vivo X Fold+ is the top foldable phone market from this Chinese brand and it comes with some interesting specs. The X Fold+ sports a tall 8.03 inch AMOLED primary panel that has a QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This makes it larger than the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and even the Magic Vs. Meanwhile, the external panel is a 6.53 inch FHD+ AMOLED screen that also offers 120Hz high refresh rate. This is also a notebook like folding phone.

The foldable smartphone is equipped with the Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 as well. This model also has a quad camera setup on the rear that consists of a 50 megapixel primary sensor, 8 megapixel periscopic lens, 12 megapixel telephoto sensor, and a 48 megapixel ultra wide angle shooter as well. With such high end specifications, the foldable smartphone starts from 579 US Dollars.

Oppo Find N

Oppo was one of the first foldable phones from a major Chinese brand to hit the commercial smartphone market with the Find N. Its primary display is an 7.1 inch AMOLED display that has a QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the external panel is a smaller 5.49 inch AMOLED panel. Similar to most other models on this list, the Find N also has a vertical hinge for a notebook like design.

Although, it is one of the more compact folding phone of this form factor. Under the hood, the device is equipped with an older but still capable Snapdragon 888 SoC. This model originally launched as a more affordable rival to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 from last year and had a starting price tag of around 499 US Dollars when it was first announced in China.
