Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, Leica Cameras Launched yesterday

Xiaomi recently dropped a new flagship foldable smartphone in China. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 aims to take on the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 and Honor Magic V3 with an impressive flagship specs sheet.

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 not only weighs the same as the Honor Magic V3 but comes in at an impressive 4.59mm thick when unfolded and 9.47mm when folded. This makes it sleeker and lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 Design

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 boasts a curved frame design, with its sides tapering seamlessly into the aluminum frame. Xiaomi’s latest foldable smartphone also features an IPX8 rating for resistance to water. The foldable is touted to withstand 500,000 folds and unfolds.

Moreover, the Mix Fold 4 boasts a “T-800H high-strength” carbon fiber hinge, which Xiaomi claims offers 300% improved impact resistance over its predecessor. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 comes in a Gentian Blue, White, Black, and a Dragon Scale Fiber version.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 Specifications

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. The foldable also packs a large 5,100 mAh battery with 67W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 runs Android 14-based HyperOS.

The Mix Fold 4 sports a 7.98-inch LTPO OLED display with a resolution of 2,488 x 2,224 pixels. The panel boasts an adaptive 1Hz – 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, and 2160Hz PWM DC dimming. The display supports HDR Vivid, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision formats.

The Mix Fold 4 also features a 6.56-inch FHD+ LTPO OLED cover screen with a 21:9 aspect ratio for comfortable transition to a smartphone. The cover display boasts the same adaptive refresh rate, HDR support, DC dimming, and peak brightness as the internal screen.

The four rear cameras on the Mix Fold 4 are co-developed with Leica, similar to the Xiaomi 14 (Review) series. The quad-camera system includes a 50 MP Light Hunter 800 primary sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and OIS support, a 12 MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.2 aperture, a 10 MP periscope shooter with OIS, f/2.9 aperture, and 5x optical zoom, and a 50 MP telephoto unit with an f/2.0 aperture.

The camera setup on the Mix Fold 4 includes various features from Xiaomi’s flagship smartphones and can capture portraits at five different focal lengths. The Mix Fold 4 also features a 16 MP camera on both the cover and internal screen.

Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 Pricing

The Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 price in China is set at CNY 4,999 (roughly $599) for the base 12GB/256GB model. The Mix Fold 4 is currently only available in China, while there’s no word on its international availability.

Xiaomi’s latest foldable smartphone is also offered in a 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB configuration that costs Rs CNY 5,999 (roughly $599) and CNY 6,999 (roughly $699), respectively. Stay tuned for more information about the global availability of the Mix Fold 4.
